Sometime in July last year I informed you that the MANSAG executive committee sent a delegation of three (Drs Jacob Akoh, Leroy Edozien and myself) to represent you at a retreat with the Nigerian Fed Ministry of Health (FMOH), Federal and State health institutions and parastatals, Postgraduate medical college, and the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA) in Abuja. At this meeting a draft Memorandum of Understanding detailing areas of collaboration between Doctors in the Diaspora and the FGN was vigorously debated and outlined. An immediate gain of those discussions was a more considerate approach by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) to registration issues affecting diaspora doctors on short-term practising stints in Nigeria.
